Working with Depression

A clinical research program for depression

Working with Depression is a clinical research program for depression located in the Mood Disorders Centre at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Hospital in Vancouver. We are affiliated with the UBC Department of Psychiatry, the UBC Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, and the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute.

Our mission is to improve outcomes for people with clinical depression.  Our scientific focus is on early recognition and intervention to prevent short-term and long-term disability.  We create and evaluate innovative platforms for assessment and evidence-based treatments for workplace, seasonal, and difficult-to-treat depression, and translate knowledge to health professionals, businesses, and the public.

The Working with Depression research program has received funding from the following sponsors: The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Canadian Network for Mood and Anxiety Treatments (CANMAT), Canadian Psychiatric Association Foundation, Janssen Canada, Lundbeck Canada Inc., Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems (MITACS), Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, Ontario Brain Institute, Pfizer Canada, Great-West Life Assurance Company, and the UBC Institute of Mental Health/Coast Capital Savings Depression Research Fund.
